hi, I had this problem ,needing a 10"barrel for my 4" Clayton & Shuttleworth TE. My solution was to use 10" nominal bore seamless linepipe which is commonly available but 10 3/4 od. So I used a piece with 3/4" wall thickness and spent 4 hours machining a 3 foot long piece on the od to 10" and giving me the 3/8" wall I needed!
i researched the internet and did come up with a possible UK supplier but did not pursue it.However the company is called HUb Le Bas and they list 15" od x1/2" wall hot finished seamless tube . Maybe they would be worth a try. Or who's design are you using ,don't they supply or know who does.
Anyway I will be interested to hear how you get on . Alan

evening all, I'm new to traction engine steam, been at railway steam for 40 years so I'm well green! Is anyone else out there building one of these? or even a 4" for that matter as I would like to discuss various aspects with fellow engineers. I'm interested in traditional T/E practice, the drawings I am using seem to me to be steering to model engineering and I know it happens in steam railway miniatures.
Has anyone had problems obtaining the specified boiler materials? My steel merchant has scoured europe for 15" O/D tube to ST52 (as specified) to no avail!

Im really sorry but I have misquoted the rules of the competition. PLEASE NOTE The sponsorship of a brick gets you entry to our Spot the Ball competition and not a prize draw. Terms and conditions can be found on the website. Very sorry again for the confusion. Andy

Hi,

I would like to introduce myself, my name is Andy and I am a volunteer for the Fred Dibnah Heritage Centre.

I am aiming to raise awareness of the centre and to call on all Fred fans to follow us and if possible offer any assistance that you can.

The Heritage Centre is busily being readied for opening, but we still need help to raise funds to restore Fred's famous home and workyard to its former glory now that planning permission has finally been granted.

To celebrate the long awaited approval of the planning consent and to carry on with the restoration work we are running an exciting competition! Sponsor a brick and you will be entered into the prize draw with a chance to win £7,500.00, a runner up prize of £2,500 or 3rd runner up prize of a half a day Land Rover experience for 3 people. We even have on offer mystery prizes for the next 10 runners up. Check our website for details;

http://freddibnahheritagecentre.co.uk/#/sponsor-a-brick/4538340182

Furthermore, we are new on Twitter and will be tweeting regular updates of how the restoration work is coming along amongst other interesting titbits... So please go to http://twitter.com/FredsHeritage and follow us.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Leon at the Heritage Centre Website - http://tiny.cc/khvbh or myself through this forum or Twitter.

Kind Regards and thanks for reading.

Andy
