I apologise for my first post here being an advertisement but I am looking for a little help.
I am one of the organisers of the steampunk festival in Lincoln which is now in its eighth year. We take over the Cathedral Quarter of the City for the bank holiday weekend.
Our attendees (as you might expect) love live steam and we would like to be able to host and display some pieces as part of the festival. We have a budget to help facilitate this (although I will hasten to add we are a not for profit community event and receive no outside grants or funding so this pot is limited.). If anyone is interested in joining us over the weekend then I would be delighted to hear from you.

Dene Rally is 5!

Last year saw another successful Dene Rally take place in Charlwood Lane, Monkwood. With over 150 exhibits of all shapes and sizes, congregating in a field in June they dodged the showers and enjoyed the sun to raise much needed money for two causes close to their heart. Initially supporting just the Mid Hants Watercress Line, in 2015 they also gave a donation to the Friends of St Peters help with their ‘Raise St Peters’ appeal. The rally ran, almost to the day, a year after the devastating fire that destroyed Ropley’s Parish Church so the committee felt it only right to try and support the fund to help with restoration and rebuild costs. At the Christmas Victorian Market the Chairman and Treasurer of the rally presented Alison Wood, Chairman of Friends of St Peters, with a cheque for £650. Soles buses, which ran the coach service linking the site to the Watercress Line for the weekend, kindly included their fee in the donation. This year’s Dene Rally takes place on 25th & 26th June where it will be celebrating it’s 5th year and is looking forward to being able to support both ‘Raise St Peters’ and the Mid Hants Watercress Line again.

Just an update to this post.

Since writing this way back in 2011 the information that I have collected regarding the Bird family and their engines of Gt Hockham. I have written a book about my family, my own history and also in this book is a whole list of engines that the elderly gentleman gave me.

This old gentlemans name was Godfrey Sturgeon, no doubt some of the people using this site may of heard of him. I was absolutely amazed at the information he gave to me, this comprised of mainly Burrell engines but regrettably as most of you know, many of these dear old machines were cut up for scrap! Such a sad end to such majestic work horses of their time.

I do hope that perhaps the list may be of use to others who research traction engines, at least it will be there for posterity.

Steam Rally 23rd & 24th of April 2016

2016 will see a new event in the railways calendar with our first Vintage Steam Vehicle Rally.

The railway is looking to attract a variety of Steam Traction Engines, Steam Rollers and Steam Lorries of all scales and we would be delighted to hear from anyone that would be interested in joining our event.

Over the weekend the railway will be operating a steam hauled passenger service running between Froghall and Leekbrook Junction.

There will also be a selection of Beers and a BBQ throughout the weekend.

I wonder if anyone can help me who may know the were abouts of a traction engine called "over the sticks" as a child i helped my Dad with some restoration on the engine in the late 70s very early 80s in an east yorkshire village.My Dad has since passed away and i would like to know if anyone knows the location or were i may find photos or any information as everything we had has been lost and since the death of my Dad cannot find the information out that i would like.I have searched the internet and cannot find anything related to the engine.
